Overall Net-Zero Target: SSAB AB commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2045. Near-Term Targets: SSAB commits to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, and upstream transportation and distribution 47.9% by 2033 from a 2018 base year. SSAB commits to reduce scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions covered by the iron and steel core boundary 56.8% per tonne of hot rolled steel by 2033 from a 2018 base year, equivalent to a 55.1% absolute reduction. As this target calculation depends on the scrap ratio projection, SSAB will publish the scrap ratio associated with this target annually starting from the base year. SSAB also commits to reduce all other absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 63% within the same timeframe. SSAB further commits to reduce all other absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel- and energy-related activities, and upstream transportation and distribution 37.5% within the same timeframe. Long-Term Targets: SSAB commits to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions 93% by 2045 from a 2018 base year.
